The mission of the Biblioteca Digital de Castilla-La Mancha (BIDICAM) is to disseminate, preserve and promote open access to digital collections of bibliographic heritage in public domain preserved in different libraries of Castilla La-Mancha.
BIDICAM guarantees the preservation through the digitization of its most valuable works of local interest, making them more accessible to researchers and the general public, thereby contributing to facilitate the knowledge, study and investigation of the culture, history and identity of Castilla- La Mancha.
It contains the patrimonial collections kept by the Biblioteca de Castilla-La Mancha, as well as the collections kept by the Bibliotecas Públicas del Estado in the region and other collaborating centers.
BIDICAM allows you to search by title, author, phrase in quotation marks or explore outstanding collections, works in different formats and themes, with special attention to those of content and local origin, allowing the download of the full text document in different formats and easily and freely .
Conceived as a repository in accordance with the Open Archives Initiative (OAI) promoted by the European Union, it incorporates the standards applicable to this type of projects (METS, Dublin Core, XMLMARC, PREMIS, EDM) internationally accepted metadata that enable the participation of BIDICAM in national repositories such as Hispana, and international repositories such as Europeana.
